It's taken us 9 months in our new rig to learn some lessons, some the hard way. We've come across some really cool hacks...

Driving with all your belongings can pose issues when not packed properly. As newbie RVers, some of these things you don't think of until it's too late.

Like glass jars on fridge shelves sliding around. On another site, we found this awesome fridge hack that is a great and inexpensive fix. Cut pool noodles to the length of the shelf and then slice them lengthwise to slip onto the shelf. Voilà, you have a soft surface ledge to stop those jars from jumping off the shelf and sliding between the shelves and the door.

Dish Hack

To stop dishes from sliding in cupboards and chipping buy rubber placemats or rubber drawer liners, cut them into squares and place between dishes.

Black Water Tank Advice

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BLACK TANK VALVES OPEN!!! We learned the hard way. If the valves are left open, water will run out but leave the toilet paper to build up, creating a tent of paper to pile up and not drain. If this happens, you'll have to get a septic truck to come out and pump out your tank. What you should be doing is letting the black tank fill, grey as well. When the black is full, then you can pull the valve and empty in one big whoosh. When it's done draining, we then pull the valve to our grey tank as well to rinse any remaining gross stuff from the septic line.

Utilize Storage Space

We found so much wasted space in our pantry cabinets, but with this shelf hack, we doubled our pantry space. We found these inexpensive folding shelves at the dollar store for about $5.00 Canadian.

3M Hooks and 3M Gizmos

We love these. We were able to add hangers to the walls without ruining the walls with nails or risking running a nail through any wiring. We have used them for our bathroom towels, oven mitts, paper towel hanger, dish sponge, bathroom accessories in the shower, and fire blanket beside our stove.

Im sure we'll come across more tips and hacks to share in the coming months as we become more versed with RV life.

Thanks for popping by...
